Statement
I believe that as artists we have a responsibility to awe. To create awe and to make others feel it too. To create art into this world is to invite those to really live and to fully feel the gift of humanity.
I am interested in ensemble-based sorties that centre young people in a visceral, sharp, and electric way. The theatre that excites me the most is the one that is wildly and raucously funny. That is at same time deeply heartbreaking. That poses difficult questions without offering easy answers. That is intimate, muscular, guttural and raw. That shows us how awful and beautiful we can be to one another, and that we have a choice in how we behave.
I believe that this theatre shakes us awake and into engagement, and enlivens us to take responsibility for our existence. The theatre that excites me is the one that reminds us of what it is to be human.
My practice is rooted in creating rehearsal rooms with other artists with voracity, honesty, joy and rigor.
